Privacy Policy

This policy is written for a local-first app with no advertising tracking and no developer-operated application server. Before publishing, verify that every statement matches the actual app, third-party SDKs, analytics tools, subscription services, and cloud services you use.

1. How We Handle Information

Refind is an iOS app for screenshot search, OCR text recognition, and local organization. With your permission, the app may access photos or screenshots on your device and process them locally for OCR, indexing, search, classification, and preview.

2. Photos and Screenshots

Refind accesses only the photos you authorize. Photos and screenshots are used to provide search, OCR, indexing, classification, preview, and related features. Unless the app clearly tells you otherwise and obtains the required permission, your photos are not uploaded to developer-operated servers.

2b. Camera

If you use the Live OCR feature, Refind will request access to your device camera. The camera is used only for real-time on-device text recognition and is not recorded, stored, or transmitted. Camera access is requested only when you explicitly open the Live OCR screen.

3. OCR Results and Search Indexes

OCR results, keyword indexes, tags, and related metadata are designed to be stored locally on your device by default. If a future version adds iCloud sync or another cloud feature, this policy will be updated to explain how those features process data.

4. What We Do Not Do

We do not sell your personal information.
We do not analyze your screenshots for advertising tracking.
We do not upload your screenshots or OCR results to developer-operated servers without clear disclosure.

5. Third-party Services

If a future version uses crash reporting, subscription management, analytics, cloud sync, or other third-party services, the relevant data practices will be disclosed in this policy and in the App Store privacy information.

6. Purchases and Subscriptions

If you purchase Refind Pro or another in-app product, the transaction is processed by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit. The developer does not receive your full payment-card or bank account information.

7. Your Controls

You can manage Refind's photo access in iOS Settings. Where available, the app may also provide controls for deleting local indexes, tags, and cached data. Uninstalling the app will generally remove data that exists only inside the app's local sandbox.

8. Children's Privacy

Refind is not specifically designed for children. If the target audience or feature set changes in the future, we may update this policy to reflect applicable legal and platform requirements.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when features, third-party services, or legal requirements change. The updated version will be published on this page with a revised effective date.
